What is a weighted blanket?
A weighted blanket is a specially designed blanket that is heavier than a standard blanket. It usually contains small weights; in the case of Ella blankets, these are small hypoallergenic glass beads that are evenly distributed throughout the blanket. The purpose of a weighted blanket is to provide deep pressure stimulation, which has a calming and relaxing effect on the body.
A weighted blanket is similar to a regular blanket, but weighs considerably more. You experience deep physical pressure (Deep Pressure Stimulation), which helps you sleep better. You can compare it to someone giving you a firm hug.
Our weighted blanket consists of 7 layers. It is filled with glass beads in the middle. The weight of the beads creates the pressure. They are somewhat similar to sand. The beads are sewn into separate small compartments, which are evenly distributed throughout the weighted blanket.
